Peter De Cuyper is integration expert and research manager at the Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA) at the University of Leuven. His main research domains are labour market integration of migrants and migrant integration policies. He also has knowledge and expertise in the mentoring field. Since 2014 one of the research themes of Peter is “mentoring to work”. Peter developed one of the first mentoring projects in Belgium and is involved in several research projects about mentoring focusing on aspects of governance, quality and effectiveness of mentoring. Peter wrote a position paper defining the concept of mentoring to work trying to advance the research field. With over 50 research publications and 8,000 readers on ResearchGate, his work is one of the thought leaders in the European mentoring scene.
With his work he is greatly setting the tone on how to further develop the mentoring field.
With a master in sociology Peter brings valuable backgroundknowledge to the table. As a sociologist, Peter is deeply interested in the idea of integration in our society. Peter’s work in mentoring itself started eight years ago where he was part of developing a ‘mentoring to work’ project with the public employment service and integration centre of Antwerp, Belgium.
