Eunice Romero
Biography
Eunice Romero Rivera is currently the director general of Migrations, Refugee and Antiracism at the Generalitat de Catalunya. She obtained a degree in political science and a post-graduate degree in public policy at the Tec de Monterrey (Mexico), and a research qualification in sociology at the UAB. She has done research on identity, national construction and immigration. She is a PhD student in Information Society at the UOC. Her thesis studies how processes of national subjectivation accompany, interrelate and co-constitute social stratification around the sense of belonging to Catalonia.
She’s expert in nationalism, immigration and diversity. She has developed sociological research at the UAB, the UOC and the LSE (London) and has also worked advising the Catalan Government (2006/2010). In the area of social implementation and innovation, she has been Commissioner for Cohesion Policy and director of the Social Area of Òmnium Cultural.
