Birgit Marzinka holds a diploma in geography and an M.A. in media education. Since 1997 she is giving lectures on media education, as well as on (global) historical, political and intercultural education. Her current work focuses on the development and evaluation of web services, learning with digital media, the development of educational material, education for adults and young people. She has received several awards for her work, including the Grimme-Online-Award 2008 in the category “Knowledge and Education”. Her most recent projects include “What the farmer doesn’t know” (a multimedia project on world trade and nutrition from a global historical perspective), the coordination of the Queer History Month and the web portal Queer History, a cooperation with #uploading_holocaust and the development and implementation of a media station for the Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen. She is one of the founding members of the Agency for Historical, Civic, and Media Education e.V.
