We are pleased to announce that the 2020 European Mentoring Summit will include a Philanthropic Track, where organizations will have an opportunity to present their mentoring projects in front of potential sponsors that are particularly interested in funding mentoring organizations. There will also be an economic prize for the best project presentation! Do you want to participate? Here’s everything you need to know:
Who can participate?
Organizations that work on mentoring can present 1 project to our Scientific Committee that will enter a selection. Only organizations registered to attend the 2020 European Mentoring Summit are eligible for selection.
What will you find at the Philanthropic Track?
This event will be open to all Summit attendees, but only up to 8 organizations will get to present their mentoring projects in front of the private companies and foundations. During an hour and a half, the selected organizations will have the opportunity to present their projects and network with the different philanthropists. The projects will receive feedback from the philanthropists, who will provide all the attendees with tips and recommendations when it comes to putting their projects forward in front of potential sponsors.
We will contact the selected organizations in September and explain how the presentations will take place.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Organizations will have to prepare a video* presenting their mentoring project. The video has to be up to 2 minutes length, recorded horizontally, offering a brief description of the project and explaining why is it interesting and what makes it different or innovative within their field of work. It can be recorded either in English or in Spanish (in which case the video will have to include English subtitles). The video will have to be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo and organizations will have to send their link to firstname.lastname@example.org with subject “Philanthropic Track EMS2020”.
* By sending us the video, all organizations give the 2020 European Mentoring Summit organization the right to publish the video on the Summit’s website and on other online communications. Only the selected videos will be published.
Deadline for the submissions
Only videos sent before the 15th of September at 23:55h CEST will be considered for the Philanthropic Track.
Projects must meet certain criteria in order to be considered for the Philanthropic Track. We cannot accept any projects that don’t match these fundamental points:
Project’s background: The projects presented must have been executed by the organization for at least one complete edition and have a minimum of 10 participants.
Voluntary: The mentors in the projects must be volunteers. We will not accept projects that work with paid professional mentors.
Social: All projects must focus on groups of people at risk.
PROJECT SELECTION CRITERIA
It is very important to realize that the video selection criteria will exclusively be focused on the quality and engagement of its presentation. We will not attempt to evaluate the quality and impact of the mentoring projects, but to assess which of the proposals have made a greater effort to efficiently communicate their message.
So, what will we evaluate?
We want the project presentations to be dynamic, innovative and clear. We expect the presentations to include a diversity of voices and especially those of the communities targeted by the mentoring projects.
How many projects will be selected?
Up to 8 organizations will be selected and given the opportunity to present their mentoring project in front of potential sponsors (private companies and foundations) during the 2020 European Mentoring Summit.
BEST PRESENTATION AWARD
The first European award for the best mentoring project presentation
Apart from getting the chance to present their mentoring project in front of the philanthropists, the 8 selected organizations will be eligible to get an economic prize that will help them fund their mentoring project. The mentoring project that offers the best presentation at the Summit will get a 1000€ prize. The award will be announced during the Closing Ceremony.
