ANNOUNCING: Researchers’ Assembly

We are excited to announce the researchers’ assembly on the 18th of May. The purpose of this session is to facilitate information, method, and data sharing among researchers. It is also an opportunity to enlarge your network of researchers working on mentoring studies throughout Europe and beyond.

Looking to the future, participants will agree on and set priority goals and activities for the researchers’ community over the coming two years. The assembly will be running on the 18th of May 2022 from 14:30 to 16:30, led by Dr. Bernadine Brady, Lecturer, and Researcher at UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre, School of Political Science & Sociology, NUI Galway.

Reasons to visit Leeuwarden during EMS 2022

The historic capital of Friesland is known by many names; Leeuwarden, Ljouwert, Liwwadden or Lintwarde. The historical city center of Leeuwarden is one of the best-kept secrets of the Netherlands.

In 2018, Leeuwarden along with the province of Friesland was chosen as the Cultural Capital of Europe. This marked the beginning of a cultural movement; cultural events, street art, and museums coupled with a rich historic heritage that goes back to the 15th Century.

Leeuwarden is home to over 800 Rijksmonuments (National Heritage sites), the iconic leaning tower of the city Oldehove, and the birthplace of Mata Hari, the famous Dutch exotic dancer.

Visit us in Leeuwarden during the 2022 European Mentoring Summit for a Dutch travel experience like no other.

The first European Mentoring Summit in 2016, Leeuwarden

On the 17th and 18th of March 2016, the first European Mentoring Summit took place in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. The Summit brought together professionals, practitioners, researchers, mentors, corporate partners, government and civic leaders who represent the mentoring movement.

The event lasted 2 days and incorporated three major themes:
• Mentoring in an economically vital region.
• Developing research lines for Evidence-Based Mentoring.
• Mentoring, a powerful 21st-century tool: Best practices.

The summit offered European mentoring organisations the chance to build new bridges together for the future. The Summit came after a previous event in 2014, also in Leeuwarden, where the European Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring was born.

Announcing the theme for the 4th Mentoring Summit

Mentoring can build solid bridges between schools, social partners, businesses and families and it helps to create inclusive eco-systems. By connecting the world of formal and informal mentoring, we can work together for the benefit of mentees. We learn from each other, on all levels, in an integrated way.

For this reason, we have chosen ‘Linking formal and informal mentoring in a holistic approach’ as the main theme for the 4th EUROPEAN MENTORING SUMMIT. Keynote speakers and session leaders will challenge our understanding of how and under which conditions mentoring works. Practice & research collaborations will be introduced, offering us new insights and success strategies. European mentoring programmes will present their unique methods, tools, organizational models and activities. Altogether, the event will bring together 250+ people from Europe and beyond.

The 2022 EUROPEAN MENTORING SUMMIT is the 4th edition after the summits in Barcelona (2020), Berlin (2018) and Leeuwarden (2016). The 2022 summit will be hosted in Leeuwarden, in the North of the Netherlands, by Mentoring Europe, in collaboration with International Affairs of NHL Stenden University.
